Elton John Says Madonna Lip-Syncs
Elton John was interviewed on Good Morning America yesterday. Asked if he has any advice for Madonna, who is performing the half-time show, he said “Make sure you lip-sync good. Of course you have to play live but I don’t think you can.”
This follow’s Elton John’s husband David Furnish’s remarks that Madonna was “embarrassing,” “narcissistic” and “desperate” during her Golden Globes acceptance speech.
Rosie O’Donnell’s Gay Brother Weds
Danny O’Donnell, 51, New York state assemblyman and brother of Rosie O’Donnell wed John Banta, his spouse of 31 years, this past Saturday.
They were wed by Judith Kaye, former Chief Justice of the New York State Court of Appeals. The New York Daily News said that “according to one guest, Kaye joked that the wedding’s ‘special guest is the State of New York.’” She said this because attendees included Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Charles Schumer, New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and other senior politicos.
Banta is the director of special events for the Metropolitan Opera, says On Top Magazine.
Queerty reports that ”Danny’s famous sister Rosie brought along her four kids and her new fiancee Michelle Rounds.”
For more about the nuptials, NY1 has a story about the wedding (with video).

Anderson Cooper Throws Birthday Party for Gay Party Promoter
Anderson Cooper held a birthday party for gay party promoter Josh Wood, according to The New York Daily News:
Anderson Cooper was a different kind of host on Saturday evening. A source says the “Anderson Cooper 360” anchor held a birthday party for openly gay party planner Josh Wood, of Josh Wood Productions, in the converted firehouse in Greenwich Village that Cooper bought for $4.3M in 2009. Cooper, “dressed casually in a T-shirt and glasses,” was “really social at the party [and] talked to all of his guests.”
Nashville Restaurant Throws Homophobic GOP State Senator Out
We’ve written about Stacey Campfield, the Tennessee Republican state senator who thinks Gay = AIDS. A Nashville restaurant has had enough of him, refusing to serve him, reports Nashville 21:
The restaurant The Bistro at the Bijou in Knoxville refused service to one Sen. Stacey Campfield. They posted a FB message that said, “I hope that Stacy Campfield now knows what if feels like to be unfairly discriminated against.” From all that I can ascertain, that was a response to not serving him for his well documented views of ignorance and bigotry towards the GLBT community.
The restaurant’s proprietor said this to Metro Pulse: “I didn’t want his hate in my restaurant. I told him he wasn’t welcome here. … I feel like he’s gone from being stupid to being dangerous, and I wanted to stand up to him.” She also says “Campfield is a bully. He needed to be stood up to.”

Cynthia Nixon to Be Married by Out Bishop Gene Robinson
This is the last Cynthia Nixon post for a while, I hope. And this one is a happy one. Nixon was interviewed by The Daily Beast. They asked her about Christine Marinoni, to whom she is engaged.
The Daily Beast: It sounds like you’re now talking about Christine [Marinoni, the woman to whom Nixon is engaged.] Let’s talk about her and how public you’ve been about your relationship, unlike so many other actors or actresses who are in same-sex relationships.
Cynthia Nixon: I think it’s a red herring when people say they don’t want to talk about their sex lives because straight people don’t talk about theirs. That’s so beside the point, since straight people talk about their wives and husbands and boyfriends and girlfriends and fiancés all the time. Christine and I are getting married by Gene Robinson, the gay Episcopal bishop from New Hampshire. We’re very thrilled about it.
Romney Campaign Publicizes Support From Pastor Who Links 9/11 and Marriage Equality
Mitt Romney’s campaign has released a letter from Roberto Miranda and 20 other far-right religious leaders. In the letter, the group talks about how Romney prevented Massachusetts from being “flooded” by same-sex couples after same-sex marriage was legalized there:
He and his staff identified and enforced a little-known 1913 law that allowed them to order local clerks not to issue marriage licenses to out-of-state couples. Absent this action, homosexual couples would surely have flooded into Massachusetts from other states to get “married” and then demanded that their home states recognize the “marriages,” putting the nation only one court decision away from nationalizing “same-sex marriage.”
Miranda feels that the 9/11 terrorist attacks are directly linked to marriage equality in Massachusetts:
[He] sees marriage equality as the work of the Devil and has drawn a “direct correlation between marriage equality and the September 11th terrorist attacks.” “Is it exaggerated to see prophetic significance in the fact that on September 11, 2001 Boston served as the point of departure for the deadly forces that spread so much destruction and havoc in this nation and all over the world,” he asked. “What took place at the material level is now being carried out at the moral and spiritual level, as the virus of homosexuality and gay marriage begins to spread dramatically all over this nation and perhaps the world.”
Slava Mogutin & Brian Kenney: Entropy Parade
Artists Slava Mogutin and Brian Kenney (who are both artistic collaborators as well as spouses), create this portfolio called Entropy Parade for Flaunt magazine.
Late last week, we wrote about Stacy Campfield, a Republican State Senator in Tennessee who said only gay people get HIV and that gayness is the same as beastiality. Campfield has now clarified his remarks to the Knoxville NBC affiliate, saying he didn’t say any of that. Only, he says he did. Huh?
“I didn’t say I was a gay/AIDS historian. I didn’t say I know the facts backwards and forwards I just said what I’ve heard and the facts back me up,” he said.
“A lot of people trying to gloss over and say it’s an every-person disease but really it’s just those high-risk people that are most likely to contract or spread that disease. “The odds of a regular man getting it from a regular woman are very low,” he said.
We asked, “What do you mean by ‘regular?’”
He said, “someone who is not from Africa, someone who is not a homosexual, someone who is not an IV drug user, someone who is not sleeping with someone who is one of those things.”
So, he’s saying gay = AIDS. And that you’re not a “regular” person if you’re from Africa or you’re gay. This guy is crazy.

Channing Tatum’s Prosthetic Penis in The Vow
Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams star in the upcoming film The Vow. As with anything starring Channing Tatum, there’s plenty of naked male flesh. There’s “a scene where Rachel’s character – who has lost her memory – sees her husband, played by Channing, naked.” Socialite Life reports that Tatum, quite the practical joker, decided to surprise McAdams with a huge, realistic prosthetic penis during the scene.
The actor decided to play a practical joke on Rachel by having the props department make a huge prosthetic penis for him to wear.
Rachel told Stella magazine: “Channing got the props department to make a prosthetic member. Literally a fake penis. I didn’t know what to do. I thought, ‘Is this the real deal?’ It was very realistic. It was ridiculous, the scale of it.”

Cynthia Nixon-gate: Being Bisexual Is Not a Choice
Cynthia Nixon stirred up lots of angst with her comments to the New York Times that being in a lesbian relationship was a choice for her. She’s now clarified her remarks to The Advocate, saying that being a bisexual is not a choice. Nixon said:
“While I don’t often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual. I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship.
“As I said in the Times and will say again here, I do, however, believe that most members of our community — as well as the majority of heterosexuals — cannot and do not choose the gender of the persons with whom they seek to have intimate relationships because, unlike me, they are only attracted to one sex.
“Our community is not a monolith, thank goodness, any more than America itself is. I look forward to and will continue to work toward the day when America recognizes all of us as full and equal citizens.”
