R.I.P. Michael Jackson 1958-2009
His life was a thriller. It’s been a day. First Farah Fawcett, and now Michael Jackson. Jackson died to at age 50. We choose to remember his for his iconic music and colossal presence as an entertainer (and not the troubled parts of his life). Many of us grew up on his music; it’s the end of generation of music.

Farah Fawcett, actress and blonde bombshell, died this morning at 62 in Los Angeles. She dies after a three year battle with cancer. Farah is, of course, best known for Charlie’s Angels, but had a long and sucessful career in film and television.

Over at Modern Destiny, we’ve found an interview Tom Ford did with The Times of London. Lots of great stuff there, like Tom on why he look so hot, why everyone is naked in his ads, and his new movie. He’s directed an adaption of Christopher Isherwood’s A Single Man, about a gay man in LA in the ’60s.

Falwell’s Liberty University Bans Democrats
The Associated Press reported (last month) that Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University banned the College Democrats. Why?
the Democratic Party violated the university’s principles because, he said, it supports abortion, socialism and the agenda of gay, bisexual and transgender people.
That’s right: the Democratic Party thinks gay people are equal, and well, that’s socialist. That said, after much uproar, they university will now allow the club to exist, sort of. They can exist as an “unofficial club.” In Liberty University speak, this mean “clubs that support candidates whose views are contrary to the university’s Christian mission.” How nice of them: they appear to be saying Democrats and LGBT people are not appropriately “Christian.”
Justin Timberlake and the Man With the Machine Gun
This post has nothing to do with this blog, but, well, I thought the pic was so bizzare I decided to post it. TMZ found this pic of Justin Timberlake arriving in Paris last week. He’s cute, as always. And escorted by a cute machine-gun toting camo-wearing bodyguard.

Apparently everyone is up in arms over Bruno. First GLAAD demands a positive message be added to the end. Now The New York Times reports newsstands in Chicago are censoring his GQ cover. They say:
How will the raunchy “Brüno” go over in flyover country? One indication is that GQ’s cover of Sacha Baron Cohen as the flamboyantly gay Brüno — he’s nude with a strategically placed leg — is being treated like pornography in Chicago.

Perezgate: Day Three and Fox News Gets Involved
It’s the story that keeps on picking up steam. Fox News is all over it; the AP has reports galore on it. It’s Perezgate. It started when Will.i.am called Perez a “faggot,” Perez called him that back; Perez got hit by the Black Eyed Peas tour manager. GLAAD demanded Perez apologize. And now the latest.
Fox News says “But Hilton — who became a de facto spokesman for gay rights following his marriage equality question to former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean — is insisting he’s the one due an apology, not GLAAD.” Leave it to Fox News to claim Perez Hilton is the LGBT movement’s “spokesman.” News to me, and The New York Times. I think the New Civil Rights Movement speaks for many when they say “Perez Hilton is Not My National Leader.”
The AP has a much more appropriate take: “Perez Hilton isn’t apologizing for using a gay slur, and says he’s never claimed to be a spokesperson for the gay community.”
