TV Guy Candy

The New York Daily News has a fun photo round-up of TV’s “yummiest guy candy.” My Top 10 are here.

Glee Wednesday: Mark Salling Rocks

It’s Thursday, and that means there was new Glee last night.  I was in Glee withdrawal, and will be in it again until next Wednesday.  To keep it at bay, I’ve rounded-up a whole bunch of Glee-ful-ness.

Glee’s hottest hottie (and Christian rock band member?!?), Mark Salling, appears on Wendy Williams

And speaking of Mark Salling, OhLaLaMag.com ran these hot Glee screen-captures of him a few weeks ago.

Oh, and if you’ve happened to miss an episode, NyMag.com runs them down here, or you can catch them on Hulu.

Finally, what does Mark Salling think of Madonna? He tells Just Jared:

JJ: Glee recently got the rights to use Madonna’s entire catalog of music. Is there a song of hers you’d like to perform?
MS:
I’ve been dreaming of singing Madonna since I was a little girl. (laughs) So this was a really big thing! I would say, what’s one of her songs? I mean. I’m a dude I don’t even know. (laughs)

Quickclick: Just Which TV Characters are Gay?

WKRPNYMag.com muses on the question of just which TV characters are gay? Or are they straight but seem gay? What about Jack Tripper, “horny heterosexual Jack Tripper imitating a gay stereotype?” Or Blanche’s gay brother. Then there’s WKRP, where Herb tells “Les, it’s okay if you’re a homo.” And Fraiser. Sienfeld.  The Office….

Eddie Cibrian Shirtless

Eddie Cibrian

Eddie Cibrian (one of TV’s resident hotties) goes shirtless on CSI:Miami.  The plot twist that gets him to strip isn’t really important — we’re here to share the hot pix — but if you care, OhLaLaMag summarizes it. We’ve got a few of the pix here; check out SocialiteLife for the rest.

Coming Out on the Newlywed Game

It’s National Coming Out Day, and guess who’s coming out in the Newlywed Game?  Okay, he’s been out a while — I mean, who doesn’t know that Sulu, erm, George Takei is gay and a newlywed?  But they’re getting into the game: “The long-running game show, now on the GSN cable network, said Wednesday it will feature its first gay couple this season on a celebrity edition. George Takei, who played Mr. Sulu on ‘Star Trek,’ will appear with his partner, Brad Altman.”  This from the AP, who seems to think history shows this is a harbinger or change. After all, the show has had “older couples, interracial couples and some who have lived together many years before marriage.”

Ugly Betty Kills Lesbian Story Line

bettyclaireimg_assist_customjpg

There had been rumors that Ugly Betty would have a lesbian relationship between Claire, played by Judith Light, and Victoria, played by Christine Baranski. Alas, no. Digital Spy reports that Vanessa Williams told the New York Daily News:

“[ABC] put the kibosh on it,” [Williams] said. “I don’t know why.”

Executive producer Silvio Horta confirmed: “We thought about it, but ultimately decided to go in a direction that would set up more stories for next season.”

AfterEllen has gossip about Rachel Maddow being on Ugly Betty. And AfterElton has general Ugly Betty spoilers.

NY Times Reporter Acts Gay Towards Obama?

picture_21_02That’s what Bill O’Rielly says, according to Gawker. New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny asked President Obama what was the “most enchanting” part (along with “humbing, “surprising” and “troubing”) of his first 100 days in office.

O’Rielly and his guest commentator said:

O’Reilly: Did he actually say that word, enchanted?

Goldberg: I cannot picture any journalist asking Franklin Roosevelt if he was enchanted…. Because they were men of a different era, they were men of a John Wayne era. Today’s men…especially men in journalism, they’re softer…. They want to know about your feelings.

O’Reilly: I don’t know what that means. I know what the enchanted forest is…

Goldberg: It’s the kind of question that fits our metrosexual times, if you know what I mean.

MediaMatters.org has video of the Fox News incident.  Zeleny is, according to Out Magazine, a gay man. Homophobia on Fox, anyone?

Quickclick: Gay Men in Bed, on Fox’s 24

lrg-5258-24-gay-scene-01jpglrg-5262-24-gay-scene-05jpgOhLaLa Magazine reports on a super-minor story on last night’s 24 on Fox. And that’s the point: gay men are presented as normal and in bed like any couple. Progress comes in big and small steps. They have pix (but no video).
