Elton John’s Superbowl Ad for Pepsi

Madonna may have had the Superbowl spotlight, but Elton John has his part too. Elton John starred in a Pepsi ad as a king who kept Pepsi away from his subject. That is, until X Factor winner Melanie Amaro wowed him with some Aretha Franklin. She liberates the Pepsi for all, and Elton ends up in the dungeon (perhaps as punishment for those digs at Madonna?).

Elton John Says Madonna Lip-Syncs

Elton John was interviewed on Good Morning America yesterday. Asked if he has any advice for Madonna, who is performing the half-time show, he said “Make sure you lip-sync good. Of course you have to play live but I don’t think you can.”

This follow’s Elton John’s husband David Furnish’s remarks that Madonna was “embarrassing,” “narcissistic” and “desperate” during her Golden Globes acceptance speech.

David Furnish Clarifies Madonna Remarks

We reported on the remarks David Furnish (Elton John’s spouse) made about Madonna’s Golden Globes win. Now, Furnish has clarified his remarks on Facebook. He said:

Wow! What a tempest in a teapot. My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion. My passion for our film “Gnomeo & Juliet” and belief in Elton‘s song really got my emotional juices going. But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week’s premiere of the film “W.E.”.

Elton John’s Husband David Furnish Disses Madonna’s Globe Win

David Furnish, Elton John’s husband, let off some steam on Facebook after Madonna bested Elton John at the Golden Globes, winning the award for best song. Madonna’s “Masterpiece” from W.E. beat Elton John’s “Hello Hello” from Gnomeo & Juliet. Furnish said:

Madonna. Best song???? Fuck off!!!!

Thanks for all your supportive comments and support. Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s [sic.] narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.

TMZ reports that “Elton seemed particularly bitter towards Madonna before the awards … telling one reporter [Carson Daly] on the red carpet he believed Madge had no “f**kin’ chance” of emerging victorious.” Video below:

The award in question, for what it’s worth, was presented to Madonna by Adam Levine and Bradley Cooper. Yum.
