Howard Stern Stands Up for Ellen, Rosie and LGBT People Everywhere

Howard Stern passionately defends Ellen, puts the haters who want J.C. Penney to dump Ellen in their place, and talks about how anti-gay rhetoric hurts gay kids. He calls Obama on his almost-but-not-quite stand on marriage equality and talks about just how bigoted the Republican candidates for president are. Please listen to this — it’s worth it. Go Howard!

Rosie O’Donnell’s Gay Brother Weds

Danny O’Donnell, 51, New York state assemblyman and brother of Rosie O’Donnell wed John Banta, his spouse of 31 years, this past Saturday.

They were wed by Judith Kaye, former Chief Justice of the New York State Court of Appeals. The New York Daily News said that “according to one guest, Kaye joked that the wedding’s ‘special guest is the State of New York.’” She said this because attendees included  Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Charles Schumer, New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and other senior politicos.

Banta is the director of special events for the Metropolitan Opera, says On Top Magazine.

Queerty reports that ”Danny’s famous sister Rosie brought along her four kids and her new fiancee Michelle Rounds.”

For more about the nuptials, NY1 has a story about the wedding (with video).

Rosie and Kelly Split

Rumors have been floating around for a couple years that Rosie O’Donnell and wife Kelli Carpenter have been split.  I haven’t posted them here because, well, their personal life is personal.  That said, Rosie seem to have confirmed the split on her Sirius XM radio program.  People.com quotes her this way:

On her Sirius Satellite radio show, O’Donnell suddenly admitted Carpenter had moved out of their home two years ago. The reason for the big reveal? A pressing psychic and a long-haired Chihuahua.

“Where did you get her from Rosie? Because she says she came from somewhere. And she said she’s happier with you,” pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick said of O’Donnell’s dog Misty. “She’s so spoiled and she loves to burrow.”

And, when asked who “sometimes looks after her,” O’Donnell explained her four children all fight over caring for the pup, which she got three days after Carpenter left. “What happened [was] when Kelli moved out two years ago, I got the dog. Because I wanted another child or something to love. And I got the dog.”
